THE VIURA PROJECT, TRIPLE AENOR CERTIFICATION: QUALITY, ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY

Unión Fenosa Gas Exploración y Producción, S.A. (UFG E&P), a subsidiary of the UFG Group and operator of the Viura Project in La Rioja, obtains triple AENOR certification under standards UNE ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001

The AENOR certificate under ISO 9001 verifies that UFG E&P has implemented a quality management system that aims to achieve continuous improvement in the development and performance of all its operations.

AENOR has also granted ISO 14001 certification, the most widely used environmental management tool in the world, which guarantees the effectiveness of the company’s environmental management system and correct control of the impact of its activities on the environment, through the prevention, reduction or elimination of those impacts.

Finally, its occupational health and safety management system has also been certified under ISO 45001, endorsing the implementation of a system that helps to prevent occupational hazards and, therefore, reduce accidents at work.

UFG E&P is one of the first companies in the energy sector to obtain these three AENOR certificates together. This shows that its management systems are aligned with the best national and international practices.

Tomás Fraga and Rubén Benito received the AENOR certificates on behalf of the company, awarded by the Directors for the Atlantic Region and La Rioja, Martín Pita and Emilio Flamarique, respectively, at a ceremony held this morning at the Sotés facilities.

According to Tomás Fraga, chief operating officer of UFG E&P, “obtaining these certificates is a landmark for this unique project in Spain. They endorse the management systems of our operations, which enable us to identify, control and enhance constantly all the aspects affecting the quality of our activities and our firm commitment to sustainability and environmental protection, and naturally also to the care and well-being of our employees and collaborators.”

Martín Pita, AENOR Director for the Atlantic Region, underlined that: “ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 are global benchmark standards for Quality, Environmental Management and Occupational Health & Safety, respectively. Through their use, UFG E&P demonstrates its firm commitment to the systematic policies of quality and continuous improvement.”

The Viura Project follows the general guidelines of the UFG Group in its permanent endeavour to achieve continuous improvement in its operations and its commitment to protecting the environment and achieving sustainable development.
